Millet Activity Center

Oakwood University selected JSBC in early 2011 to step in and take control of a project that had been plagued by regulatory and licensing concerns. JSBC's first tasks were to put order to the permitting and licensing process, as well as institute new cost controls. The company also used the university's tax exempt purchasing status to reduce final overall cost by several thousand dollars.
Scope of the work included updating exits to increase the occupancy load of the multipurpose building, refinished interiors and upgraded restrooms, and corrections for severe drainage problems. The interiors were upgraded with modern life safety systems, including wet pipe sprinkler and fire alarm.
A new high performance urethane floor coating was added to the skating floor surface. The center's aluminum railings were modified to allow easy removal for large events without creating a tripping hazard in the floor.
