March 1, 2010 – Joe and Susan Still have been named Leadership Team co-chairpersons of The Schools Foundation's new Speak Up! Community Engagement initiative, a program designed to start conversations throughout Huntsville, Madison and Madison County about public education and ways to enhance and improve the three systems countywide.  Over the next 18 months, the 22-member Leadership Team will be tasked with fundraising for the initiative, then actively leading other community groups and partners through needs assessment, direct community conversations, and leadership development training.

Speak Up! will be chaired by Schools Foundation President Scott McLain and Girls Inc. President Stephanie Malone.  More information on the foundation and the initiative can be found at www.theschoolsfoundation.org.

February 25, 2010 – Joe Still Building Company has been awarded a contract for construction of site and building shell of the Endeavor Dialysis Center at 1675 Sparkman Drive in Huntsville.  When completed by mid-summer, the center will be operated by Fresenius Medical Corp. Endeavor is the second site and shell project JSBC has completed for FMC.  The Design Group of Greenville, Tennessee is the lead architect for the building.

February 2, 2010 – The City of Huntsville Inspection Department has issued a building permit to Joe Still Building Company for interior construction of offices for Alabama Cardiology PC in the new Mayfair Professional Office Center near the Crestwood Hospital campus.  When completed, Suite 210 will be occupied by Dr. Sadavisa R. Katta, who is board certified in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and clinical hypertension.

December 31, 2009 – Joe Still Building Company has completed two Tenant Improvement contracts in Madison Research Park for RPD Catalyst LLC of Houston, Texas.  The separate suites at 1038 Research Boulevard in Madison will be occupied by the Defense Contract Audit Agency, U.S. Department of Defense; and Avnet Electronics Marketing, a division of Avnet, Inc., a worldwide electronics and services company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.

The building was LEED pre-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, and JSBC used a number of "green" enhancements during the new units' construction, including implementation of a construction indoor air quality management plan, construction waste management plan, and utilizing green materials (recycled content, regional materials, and low E/ low voc materials compliant with LEED) as much as possible within budget and schedule limits.

When completed, this project's total waste diversion of construction debris from landfill disposal was nearly 90 percent.

August 1, 2009 – Joe Still Building Company Inc. received a certificate of completion from the City of Huntsville Inspection Department for alterations to a building for Lockheed Martin Corporation in Cummings Research Park.  The contract is the second to be awarded by Lockheed Martin to JSBC since December 2008.

July 30, 2009 – Joe Still Building Company has completed renovation of the new headquarters building for Matheny Goldmon Architects AIA of Huntsville.  The Huntsville Inspection Department issued a permit to JSBC for remodeling the circa 1930s two-story brick building on June 1.

May 31, 2009 – Joe Still Building Company has received an Inspection Department Certificate of Completion for the renovation of Pane e Vino, a new Mediterranean restaurant and pizzeria at the Huntsville Museum of Art, 300 Church Street, Pane e Vino is the city’s second venture by Boyce Restaurant Concepts.  The restaurant, which opened in May 2009, features both inside and patio seating next to downtown’s Big Spring Park.  Pane e Vino’s owners, James and Suzan Boyce, Charles Meola and Jeff Sikes, also own and operate Cotton Row restaurant on South Side Square.

May 2, 2009 – The Alabama chapter of American Society of Interior Designers has awarded Matheny Goldmon Architects Interior Designer Abby Owen First Place in the Hospitality Division 2009 for her design concepts at Mezza Luna, a restaurant in south Huntsville.  Joe Still Building Company was construction manager at risk for the 3,000-square foot facility that opened Fall 2008.

February 9, 2009 – Susan Still, of Joe Still Building Company, has been appointed to the Educators Institute, a voluntary, non-profit association established by the Schools Foundation of Huntsville and Madison County.  Members of the Institute have been charged with the development, planning and implementation of educational initiatives to support the three public school systems in Madison County.  The newly formed institute will also investigate strategies to identify and develop partnerships with local, state, and national organizations in the support of local public education.  Ms. Still earned a BA from Auburn University majoring journalism with minors in education and business, and has been a volunteer in public education and the arts for more than 20 years.  At JSBC, she is responsible for office administration, payroll, health insurance, and corporate image development.

U.S. Green Building Council MemberDecember 7, 2008 – Chris Ethridge, an associate project manager with Joe Still Building Company of Huntsville, has become a LEED Accredited Professional (AP), demonstrating a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED rating system.  Ethridge, a 2008 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Building Science, will be involved in all JSBC green building projects from both the design through the construction phases.  JSBC is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.

November 12, 2008 – Fuqua & Partners Architects PC have been given the 2008 Award of Merit by the North Alabama Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) for its design of the SportsMed Orthopaedic Surgery & Spine Center in south Huntsville.  Joe Still Building Company was construction manager at risk on the $9M 60,000-square foot medical complex which opened Fall 2008.
